Retail training at Better Together is an award winning project offering free training in Certificate II in Retail.

Better Together is proud to be part of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work project which is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland government.

Better Together’s registered training organisation, Foot in the Door Training is at 21c King Street Caboolture (behind Max Employment with the entrance off Armstrong Way). Their training café and The Old Brand New op-shop, which are both run by the students, are both training components that will help students hone their skills in a comfortable environment before they do their thirty hours of vocational placement with a local business.

Amie Storer, Better Together manager said, “This program is especially beneficial to those struggling to find employment that already have a Certificate III or higher qualification but may need to study in another field to find employment.”

Better Outcomes participants will continue to have loyal and dedicated support including professional development workshops that address vital job ready skills such as:

  • cover letter writing
  • interview preparation
  • resume writing
  • knowing your strengths and developing your personal brand etc

The program also supports the participants in addressing any personal issues and barriers which may have impacted on them finding employment in the past such as housing issues, paperwork anxiety, lack of confidence etc.

The 2016 program had some fantastic results:

  • 73% of SQW participants have found employment
  • 88% of SQW participants went on to further study
  • 97% of SQW participants completed their studies

The next course starts on the 9th April 2018 and we are looking for interested participants.  The course is 7 weeks long and included 30 hours vocational placement.

Better Together’s goal is to empower unemployed community members with a qualification and in doing so, offer local businesses highly skilled employees who are ready to work.  We always welcome local business who would like to become vocational placement hosts. Contact us now to discuss your eligibility.
